History of Sunrise Beach
Sunrise Beach is located in Camden County on the west side of the Lake of the Ozarks at the junction of Highway 5 and State Route F. With the direction of a forward thinking city council, the city has greatly benefited from the development of the Ozarks Community Bridge. Sunrise Beach is only 10 miles by auto from the populated and highly developed North and East Shores at the entrance point to Shawnee Bend-Four Seasons' developments.
The humble beginnings of Sunrise Beach began in the 1920's and early 1930's, when many lake communities we know today consisted of nothing more than vast areas of Missouri hardwood and underbrush. Following the construction of Bagnell Dam in 1931, the Union Electric Company had not only built an electrical power source for mid Missouri, they had created a central vacation hotspot for the United States.
Sunrise Beach has developed from it's primitive beginnings to a business development and culturally rich lake community complete with all the amenities of modern life in a vacationers paradise.
